Maria has started to sing to visitors, as she sits beside the dining room table. Is she singing for her supper? It is not her purr, nor growl, which are very similar. It is not the baying of the New Guinea singing dog from San Diego zoo. Maria looks identical to this female in the clip which you can see on the internet. The Portuguese had a colony in New Guinea, whiuch they called Isla da Papua. Probably they brought the dogs by sea, as they did to so many places. The dogs have now retreated to the mountains above 7,000 ft to escape from the savages who live lower down.
