Is Suki a Podengo Pequeno? Empty Is Suki a Podengo Pequeno?

I adopted Suki from a rescue org as a "terrier x" and only after I had her for a few months did I learn about the PPP breed. I am certain she is one, but would like to know what this forum thinks.

I would say that this is definitely a Podengo Pequeno. The long triangular ears, long soft hair and inquisitive eyes are classic marks of the type. If she is very affectionate and follows you everywhere that would be another sign, although other Terriers do this also.

The Pequenos were used in their native Portugal to dive down rabbit holes after the Podengo Medios had chased the quarry to ground. This is the same role as the Jack Russell was bred for by Parson Jack Russell in Ireland. But the Podengo Pequeno goes back to Roman times. The Romans brought these dogs to their colomies in Spain and Portugal from the Eastern Mediterranean. She probablty likes digging and will have an excellent sense of smell.

You have made a good choice.
