The Podengo is eligible to enter in all ASFA Trials in the Limited Class. Under Article X of the ASFA Constitution (on the website), ASFA has established a three step process to receive full breed recognition. The Podengo is in the first stage. A breed must be in the Limited Class for at least one year. After that, and assuming the breed meets the minimum entry requirements in Section 4 of Article IX, the ASFA Board can vote to advance the breed to Provisional status. After a breed spends one year in Provisional status, the ASFA Member Clubs can vote to accord the breed full recognition.
You need 10 dogs actively coursing in a calendar year and at least 30 entries, collectively in a year. ASFA has not split the Podengos. So, the 10/30 can come from any combinations of the sizes.
