I have been wanting to be a part of a forum like this for so long. My name is susan and I am the proud owner of a beautiful Female Podengo medio Smooth named Blondie. She is the love of my life and always keeps me on my toes. She is smart, funny, loving, gorgeous and full of energy(like really energetic lol)My boyfriend and I adopted her 1 year ago from Toronto Animal Services in Toronto Canada. I am a volunteer dog walker there. It was love at first sight. She was a skinny scared girl who had recently given birth to a litter of pups. Her background a mystery. We were told she was a Podengo. After much research on the breed we agreed on that. I have watched many videos of podengos and there is no doubt my Blondie is One. She has hunting on her mind 24-7. I have walked lots of dogs and nothing comes close to the devotion that Blondie has for hunting, squirrels are her life. she sounds like she is being tortured everytime she sees one (she goes nuts) she also can not be off leash as her recall is non existant, although she does always come back just not when shes told/ and living in the city its just way to risky. She took off into lake Ontario after some ducks, barking as she swam. My heart in my mouth panic overcoming me. was this it? will i lose her? no she came back eventually, but I almost drowned trying to save her duh! she is the most precious dog and I hope one day i will meet face to face with other Podengos like her. This forum is a start. Blonie has been trained to sit, come(on leash) stay(on leash) roll over, and shake a paw. she is very easily trained but only indoors.Outside getting her attention is impossible and she could care less about food treats outdoors. but loves food indoors

    Thank you

I think I recognize that level of intensity! But then again I also have Basenjis they can be quite focused as well.
