Hello! My name is Mariah. I live in Wisconsin and train in Agility and Flyball. I have a Border Collie and a Pyrenean Shepherd that I train. I have been interested in the Podengo breed for a few years. I wanted one before I got my Pyre 3 years ago, but it was so hard to locate one. However, I am tentatively planning on a new dog now. I am interested in a challenging rare breed to do agility with and am looking into some of the terrier and sighthound breeds that I have been interested in before. I would prefer a dog that doesn't have a smooth coat, which is what keeps me away from other breeds I like, such as the Whippet and Pharaoh Hound. Also, I would like a dog that is between 19 and 23 inches tall which takes out most of the terrier breeds I like. I use operant conditioning in my training, with almost entirely reward based methods. I love dogs that are very food and toy/chase motivated. I'm not afraid of road blocks that come with breeds like this as my first agility dog was a Siberian Husky and I have worked with many Schnauzers and terriers with a breeder nearby.
Please let me know if you think a Medio might be a good match for me. If so, are there any planned litters this year, maybe even in the midwest? What is the average price for a puppy?
