Size Of Litter Empty Size Of Litter

    Post  Joepas32ca Tue May 04, 2010 9:16 pm

    Hi Folks,

Proud owner of two Pequenos. My girl is pregnant. I was wondering how long is the pregnancy and what is the average litter size? The father was a pequeno also... Thanks.

Well with most dogs you count about 62-64 days from the first breeding. I have Grande and the last two Grande litters were 11 and 8. Pequenos typically don't have that many. I have seen as few as 1 and as many as 6. Average litter size seems to be around 3-4 but many females have needed a c-section so make sure you are ready for that.
Tell us about your dogs - what country are you from do you hunt or are they family pets, wire or smooth. We'd love to see pictures but it's not all that easy to do. So email if you want help posting them.

Thanks for the info, and I would certainly welcome a small litter! I did go and see my vet, and he said I should come back in the 7th week for x-rays to determine how many... and I guess that they can tell from that, if she will be able to have without the C section.

My dogs are rescues, and I'm sure they are not pure-breds, but they are the best! We live in the desert in California, and they are my pets. I read-up about their being used for hunting in packs, and I can see that "bond" in the two of them. They chase cats and birds together.

I'll try to post a photo, and if not able, will take you up on your very nice offer.

    Thanks again!
